The McAdoo Fire Co., Inc. was recently honored by the Air Products and Chemical Corporation for their assistance in responding to motor vehicle accident involving a private carrier transporting one of the company’s products.
The fire company initially responded to the scene at the on ramp for Intestate 81 outside of McAdoo. The scene was controlled by fire department members while the EMS crew provided first aid to the injured driver. Fire department members then assisted staff from the Air products Emergency Response Team in providing support operations at the scene.
Company officials commended the members of the fire company for their professionalism and the commitment of the members during the very lengthy operations of tank stabilization and removal from the scene.
The members and their families were provided a catered dinner. Air Products also made a check presentation to fire company officers as a token of appreciation for all the assistance rendered on the cold, rainy night in September.
The fire company officials were overwhelmed with the honor and praised The Air Products Corp. for their generosity in honoring the volunteers efforts

12-26-2011 at 00:40 hrs McAdoo Fire dispatched to 205 Tresckow Rd, Kline Twp to assist EMS 920.
12-25-2011 at22:28 hrs McAdoo Quint 49-22 dispatched into Luzerne County 425 Alvin Street Freeland Borough for the working structure fire. Quint arrived on scene asked OIC for placement and assignment. Quint 49-22 was detailed to covering any other calls in the Freeland Borough coverage area. McAdoo crews stood by from the scene of the fire. On scene for 1.5 hrs.
12-23-2011 at 20:17 hrs McAdoo fire dispatched to 91 Haddock Rd, Kline Twp for a transformer fire. Crews arrived on scene and controlled the scene till PP&L arrived.
12-22-2011 at 07:24 hrs McAdoo Fire dispatched for a chief to 116 Snyder Ave, Kline Twp for sparks coming out of a dryer vent. Upon arrival of first officer he immediately dispatched for Quint 49-22 and Engine 49-15 for fire in a stove pipe from a wood pellet stove. Ladder crew extinguished fire with air and water. Crews returned ,on scene for 1/2 hr.
12-21-2011 at 14:40 McAdoo Fire dispatched to 51 Lofty Rd, Kline Twp for the AFA. Chief arrived on scene found to be a dirty detector. All units cancelled.
12-6-2011 at 08:37 McAdoo fire requested to assist BLS 920 with a lift assist at 205 Tresckow Rd, Kline Twp. Also assisting was Hazle Twp Fire and Kline Twp PD.
12-3-2011 at 06:59 hrs McAdoo Fire dispatched for a smoke investigation upon arrival of Chief 49-08 found to be 2 tire fires in the village of Lofty. Brush 49-47 requested McAdoo crews arrived on scene at 49 Lofty rd, Kline twp pulled one booster line to extinguish 2 tire fires. On scene for 1 hour.
11-29-2011 at 15:21 hrs McAdoo Fire dispatched for a transformer fire at 39 Grove Street, Kline Twp. Quint 49-22 and E-49-15 responded. Personal secured the scene till PP&L arrived.
11-28-2011 at 08:05 McAdoo Fire dispatched to assist McAdoo BLS 920 at 204 E Grant Street, McAdoo Borough.
11-27-2011 at 15:32 McAdoo Fire Dispatched to I 81 for MVA, upon arrival at the location on interstate, found that vehicle went airborne and landed on railroad bed 50 feet below. Upon accessing the area, found four patients. Fire, EMS and rescue personnel immediate set up triage and started to provide care. Additional ALS and BLS units required along with fire departments to set up two LZ's for incoming Helicopters. MC Citizens set up in Delano and McAdoo Ladder Company set one up in Lofty. Patient's removed from the scene and transported to awaiting EMS units to transport to LZ's. McAdoo Fire, West End Rescue, Delano Fire departments operated at the scene along with McAdoo, Ryan Twp, Mahoney City BLS, APTS ALS. Med Evac 4 & 7, Life Flight 5 and Penn Star 5 flew patients from the scene.
11-25-2011 at 13:32 hrs McAdoo Fire dispatched to assist McAdoo BLS 920 with a lift assist at 123 N Sheridan Street, McAdoo Borough.
11-19-2011 at 11:50 hrs McAdoo fire dispatched to assist Kline TWp PD with a forcible Entry at 1/ 1st street, Kline Twp.
11-15-2011 at 16:46 hrs McAdoo Fire and EMS dispatched to 204 N Kennedy Drive, Kline Twp for a MVA with injuries. Engine 49-15 and BLS 920 arrived on scene found a 2 car MVA. Multiple patients taken to Hazleton General 2 by 920 and 2 by medic 11. Absorbent placed on roadway for fluids down. Fire district 29 Tresckow fire also responded due to the MVA ended up being in Banks Twp.
11-13-2011 at 19:47 hrs McAdoo fire dispatched for a MVA I-81 MM 138 north no injuries fluids down. B 49-47 responded arrived on scene found 1 passenger car into the guard rail. Absorbent placed on roadway. Crews returned after being on scene for 20 minutes. PSP on scene also.
11-13-2011 at 08:04 McAdoo fire dispatched to Kelayres, Kline Twp for a Unknown type fire. McAdoo units arrived on scene found a tire fire in the reclaim area north of Kelayres. Engine 49-15 and B 49-47 pulled lines to extinguish the fire. One line was pulled and foam used. This was the third tire fire this week.

McAdoo Fire and EMS dispatched to I-81 MM 138 North for a MVA with
entrapment. Engine 49-15, B 49-47 and BLS 920 responded found 1 passenger
vehicle rollover on its roof. McAdoo crews extricated victim and was
transported by BLS 920 to Washington and Lincoln street ,McAdoo borough to
LZ. McAdoo Engine 49-15 left the scene to set up the LZ for Med Evac 4. One
trauma patient taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital. PSP also on scene, Hazle Twp
rescue recalled.
11-10-2011 at 17:24 hrs McAdoo fire dispatched for a unknown type fire I-81 MM 138. Upon investigation found to be north of the village of Kelayres, Kline Twp. Brush 49-47 arrived on scene found tires burning for the second time this week. Two lines pulled to extinguish the fire.
11-9-2011 at 03:49 McAdoo fire put on stand by at station for possible response into Hazle Twp for a WSF.
11-08-2011 at 22:10 hrs McAdoo fire dispatched for a unknown type fire on Rt 309 in Banks Twp. Upon investigation fire was north of the village of Beaver Brook, Hazle Twp. Brush 49-47 arrived on scene pulled 1 booster libe to extinguish about 20 tires. Also on scene McAdoo BLS 920 and Hazle Twp Utility.
11-06-2011 at 21:27 hrs McAdoo Fire dispatched to a AFA 110 Bayview Ave, Kline Twp. Quint 49-22 and Engine 49-15 responded, Chief arrived on scene found to be burnt food on the stove. All units were cancelled in route.
10-29-2011 at 10:46 McAdoo Bls dispatched for a MVA I-81 MM 133 BLS crew arrived on scene with a single car MVA with no injuries. At 10:54 CCrew dispatched to MM 134 for another MVA with o injuries. At 11:05 crew dispatched again to the 132 MM also no injuries reported. BLS crew responded to a total of 4 MVA's and did not tranport 1 patient. Crew returned at 11:30. Assist by Delano fire, Mahanoy City Fire and Ryan Twp fire and mulitble EMS units.
10-24-2011 at 12:21 BLS 920 dispatched for a AFA at 5 Banks Ave in Banks Twp. While crews were responding they were recalled.
10-23-2011 at 14:03 Quint 49-22 dispatched to stand by at Station 10-2 While Hazle Twp fire operated at a commercial fire. Fire was reported in a bailer inside the plant. Fire was knocked down quick with 1 1/2". Quint 49-22 was released and returned.
10-23-2011 at 13:29 McAdoo Fire and EMS dispatched for a CO call at 244 E Blaine Street, McAdoo Borough. Quint 49-22, Engine 49-15, B49-47 and BLS 920 responded. Upon investigation crews found 33PPM on both sides of a double home. Power shut down to furnace a PPV fan used for ventilation. On scene for 1/2 hr.
10-23-2011 at 01:49 hrs McAdoo BLS dispatched into Carbon County for a MVA with entrapment. BLS 920 arrived on scene found a passenger vehicle into a tree in the village of Junedale. BLS 920 assisted FD-29 with extrication. Drivers side door removed with Jaws. Patient was flown to a trauma center.
10-21-2011 at 13:35 hrs McAdoo Engine 49-15 and BLS 920 responded to assist Hazle Twp fire at a MVA 1084 S Church Street, Hazle Village. Crews arrived on scene found 1 vehicle into a front yard that hit a bystander in the front of there house. One Patient taken to HGH. PSP and Hazle Twp fire on scene.
10-16-2011 at 00:49 hrs McAdoo engine responded to Washington and Lincoln streets, McAdoo Borough to set up a LZ for incoming Med Evac. This was by the request of BLS 920 for a fall victim.
10-15-2011 at 12:35 hrs McAdoo Engine dispatched for a MVA on I-81 MM 139. Crews arrived on scene found a passenger vehicle in the median with 2 patients lying on the ground. One Pt transported by BLS 920 and the other by Medic 11. Both pts were flown to a trauma center from HGH helipad. PSP on the scene.
10-15-2011 at 11:06 Engine 49-15 and BLS 920 responded to 300 Lofty Rd, Kline Twp for a Vehicle fire. Units arrived on scene found a half a car burning. Fire extinguished with booster line, crews then had to shut operations down and move down a dirt road 200 yards away where the 2nd half of the vehicle was burning. Fire was also knocked down with a booster line. Apparently the homeowner was cutting the car in half with a torch and caught it on fire. When the homeowner tried moving it, the car broke in half so only half was moved from near other structures. Others on scene BLS 920, Kline Twp PD, Tresckow tanker recalled.
10-14-2011 at 05:12 Engine49-15 and Ambulance 920 responded to I81 MM 138 south for vehicle rollover with possible ejection. Upon units arrival found multiple patients at the scene, with one patient lying in southbound lane. All occupants out of vehicle at this time either by self extrication or ejection. Two additional units from APTS and one from Valley regional enroute to assist. Treatment rendered to patients and vehicle stabilized due to active gas leak from tank. Interstate closed to ensure crew and patient safety. Debris removed from roadway and vehicle was removed via Zenier’s Towing. PSP X 3 cars assisted at the scene.
10-13-2011 at 18:18 McAdoo Fire and EMS dispatched to 309 and I-81 On ramp for a single car MVA. Engine 49-15 and BLS 920 arrived on scene found a passenger vehicle into the Jersey barrier. No injuries reported no fluids down. Crews retuned Kline Twp PD handled the call.
10-13-2011 at 13:35 hrs Quint 49-22 dispatched for a reported WSF at 519 Phineyville Rd in East Union Twp. While responding crews were told to stand down fire was knocked down by first due Engine company. Was reported to be a garage fully involved.
