At 0020 hours today the McAdoo Fire Co Inc, Keystone Fire Co, Tresckow Fire Co, McAdoo Ambulance and APTS ambulance were dispatched fro reported house fire at 92/94 N Kennedy Drive,McAdoo Borough. Upon sign on 4 minutes later units advised of police on scene reporting heavy fire showing from the front of the building. 49-08 and 49-22 arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from the 1st division on the A/B corner. At this time a 2n...d alarm was requested bringing Hazle Twp (engine, tower and rescue), Hometown Engine, Delano Engine, and Mahanoy City RIT. As the Quint crew was hooking to the hydrant and pulling a 2 1/2 line 49-08 raised the main ladder and placed it onto the 1st division front window and blacked down the heavy fire in order to allow crews to gain entry with a hand line. The ladder was then moved to the 2nd floor window and the same done to the fire showing on that floor. The quint tagged the hydrant right in front of the building while Engine 49-15 tagged the hydrant at Blaine And Kennedy as a secondary water supply. Crews then began to make entry with hand line and multiple ground ladders thrown to windows in case of firefighter egress was needed during the operation. Ladder crews began to make multiple vent holes in the roof, as crews were making interior progress conditions began to deteriorate. At this point evacuation tones were sent and all crews pulled from the building and ladder pipe and exterior ground monitor operation put into place. Once more appropriate conditions for interior work came back into play crew were again allowed into the building to begin over haul. As over haul was completed once again elevated master stream were again put into use to make sure all hot spots were extinguished. See no further need for water and appearance of the fire being extinguished all units began to take up. During the initial stage of the fire a person came up to McAdoo Police stating they started the fire. PSP Fire Marshall requested to the scene and this individual was taken back to the McAdoo Police Department for further questioning. All searches were negative of the building. After all units except for 49-22 had taken up. The Fire Marshall was taking exterior picture of the building he noticed smoke from a third floor window along with now visible fire from the second division window on the A/D corner. At this time an 1 3/4 was deployed from 49-22 and a request for 49-15, 49-11, Tresckow Engine and Hazle Twp Tower and Engine requested back to the scene. Members darkened fire and once again to the 2nd and 3rd division for extensive over haul. Tower 107 also pulled multiple exterior wall area to gain access to check for fire. All fire was then extinguished and the investigation continued. Upon completion of the investigation the fire is presently ruled undetermined and still under investigation. At the present time McAdoo Police have charged one individual with trespassing and they state addition charges against people are pending. The officers will continue to assist PSP and the Police with the investigation as needed. There were no firefighter injuries and this building is the definition of a firefighter death trap, we are lucky no one was hurt and are grateful EVERYONE WENT HOME.
